In Memoriam - Linley J. Collins
On the morning of Monday, June 27, 2005, fellow Arrowman and Eagle Scout
Linley J. Collins was killed in a one car accident in Raceland, LA.
Collins, a native of Houma, LA, was a student at Nicholls State University,
majoring in business administration. He was a Vigil Honor member of Chilantakoba
Lodge, Southeast Louisiana Council and and served as an assistant Scoutmaster to
his troop.
Collins was a past Section Chief for the newly realigned section SR-1
starting in April 2000. He worked actively encouraging lodges to
collaborate together through large Founder's festivals and inner lodge
competitions. Later, while attending the National Planning meeting in
December of 2001, he was elected to be the Conference Vice Chief for Camping and
High Adventure for the 2002 National Order of the Arrow Conference. At the
2004 National Order of the Arrow Conference, Collins was a recipient of the
Distinguished Service Award.
The Order of the Arrow will surely miss the dedication and enthusiasm Mr.
Collins brought with him and the countless hours of service for the betterment
of the Order.
