THE 90TH ANNIVERSARY OUTDOOR ADVENTURE
Coleman Lights 90 New Trails to High Adventure

Lodge Administration Instructions

Project Description

The Coleman Company, in celebration of the BSA's 90th anniversary and in an effort to continue its strong relationship with Scouting, has committed to help fund the program fees for 90 Scouts from throughout America to attend a high-adventure experience in the year 2000.

Recipients of the 90th Anniversary Outdoor Adventureships will receive up to $375 to be applied toward the outdoor experience of their choosing. This may include Philmont Scout Ranch, the Northern Tier National High Adventure Program, the Florida Sea Base, a local council high-adventure program or Scout camp, or a unit high-adventure activity -- any Boy Scout supported outdoor experience.

Order of the Arrow youth leadership will coordinate the selection of Scouts at the troop, team, council, and national levels. Unit youth leadership (the patrol leaders' council) will nominate one Scout, which the unit will then forward to the local council service center for pooling a lodge nominee. This lodge nominee will be forwarded to the national selection committee, composed of the 1999 national OA officers, for selection of the 90 recipients. These recipients shall receive Adventureships to attend an outdoor experience. They will be notified in writing by January 10, 2000. All troop and team nominees will receive recognition from the Coleman Company.

Instructions

  1. The Outdoor Adventureship packet includes a Lodge Administration Guide (this document), Scout Application, Troop/Team Information Form, and Press Release.
  2. Photocopy and distribute to every troop and team in your council the Troop Information Form and the Scout Application. Completed Scout Applications should be sent to the local council service center.
  3. The nationwide deadline for troops and teams to send their paperwork to their local council service center is November 1, 1999.
  4. The lodge should receive two forms from the unit -- a Scout Application and a Troop/Team Information Form.
  5. The local lodge executive committee will need to designate a council selection committee. The lodge may want to form an ad hoc committee with a special chairman and adviser to provide leadership for the selection process.
  6. By December 1, 1999, this selection committee should return the Scout Application for the lodge nominee and ALL Troop Information Forms it receives (so that all troop and team nominees can be recognized) to:
