ArrowCorps5 Displays the Value of Scouting
During the summer of 2008 ArrowCorps5 resulted
in $5 million of improvements to national forests.
Order of the Arrow Approved as an Officialy Certifying Organization
The Order of the Arrow, Boy Scouts of America has been approved as
an Official Certifying Organization for the President's Volunteer Service
Award. Each of you may go to the
PVSA website and sign up to track your volunteer service under the
OA's record of service key.
ArrowCorps5 Youth Incident Commanders
The operation of ArrowCorps5 was divided into
five site subcommittees. Each committee was led by an Incident Commander
who is responsible for the program at each of the
ArrowCorps5 sites. The committee's work began at
the 2007 National Planning Meeting, where the following Section Chiefs
were elected to run their respective sites.
Fifth and Final Project Completed at Bridger-Teton National Forest!
The fifth week of ArrowCorps5 saw the completion of the final project
in the beautiful Bridger-Teton National Forest of western Wyoming. Once again,
as with the other four ArrowCorps5 projects, the
service exceeded expectations and the participants had a great experience.
Outstanding Service at the Shasta-Trinity National Forest project!
The fourth week of ArrowCorps5 saw the completion of another outstanding
project in the beautiful Shasta-Trinity National Forest in the Cascade
range of northern California. As with all of the other ArrowCorps5
projects, the service exceeded expectations and the participants had a
great experience.

Outstanding Service at George Washington and Jefferson National Forest Project!
The third week of ArrowCorps5 saw the completion of another
outstanding project, trail building and improvement in the George Washington and
Jefferson National Forests in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. As with the
first two ArrowCorps5 projects, the service exceeded
expectations and the participants had a great experience.
ArrowCorps5 Manti-La Sal National Forest a Great Success
Congratulations to participants and staff at the second week of
ArrowCorps5 at Manti-La Sal National Forest in Utah! Approximately
13,000 acres, or 33 miles, of channel area around the Joe's Valley Reservoir
and Dry Wash on the Manti-La Sal National Forest and in the Buckhorn Wash
on Bureau of Land Management land were affected by the removal of tamarisk.
Tamarisk is an invasive species of evergreen shrub that depletes ground water
and brings salt to the surface soil.

Off the Shasta-Trinity ArrowCorps5 Project
Over 500 Arrowmen from 33 states, Japan, Taiwan, and Europe converged on
the Shasta-Trinity National Forest this week to begin their five day
ArrowCorps5project.
"We have been anxiously awaiting their arrival and
are very excited to see what the Arrowmen are capable of," said Alex
Braden, Youth Incident Commander for the Shasta-Trinity Project.
ArrowCorps5 Mark Twain National Forest Hailed as a Great Success
Congratulations to the participants and staff of Mark Twain National
Forest on an outstanding start to ArrowCorps5! Participants
arrived early on June 7, 2008 at Mark Twain National Forest in Missouri
to begin the first project of ArrowCorps5.
2008 Quality Lodge Petition Posted
The 2008 Quality Lodge Petition is now posted for download. Lodges should
review the requirements to obtain 2008 Quality Lodge Petition to plan activities
in 2008.
2008-2012 Strategic Plan
As Scouting's National Honor Society and as an integral
part of every council, our service, activities, adventures,
and training for youth and adults will be models of quality
leadership development and programming that enriche lives of our members and help extend Scouting to
America's youth. The 2008-2012 Strategic Plan focuses on
these key traits assisting lodges with promoting these ideals

Quality Lodge Recipients for 2007
Every OA lodge has the opportunity to achieve the status of
Quality Lodge. The requirements provide a guide
for a successful lodge, addressing inductions, service,
camp promotion, membership, events, and other aspects of
lodge operation. The Quality Lodge program
recognizes a level of excellence in lodge program and operation.

2009 National Order of the Arrow Conference Dates
Even with ArrowCorps5 just around the corner, many lodges have
requested information on the date for the 2009 National Order of the Arrow
Conference. The National Order of the Arrow Committee is pleased to announce
that the 2009 National Order of the Arrow Conference will be held at Indiana
University, August 1-6, 2009. Please make sure you have this date on your lodge
calendars. This information is provided to assist lodges and individual Arrowmen in their future planning. More information will be available late summer of
2008.
