NOAC Theme Show
"Voices"

The final show of the 2004 NOAC was the theme show Wednesday night, Voices.

Once again, Arrowmen from across the country filled the Hilton Coliseum. The feeling of expectation was evident during the preshow. The participants were exited, and also a little saddened by the eminent end of the conference. They were ready to have a great time and to enjoy an outstanding show that would motivate them to return to their Scouting activities back home.

The show was set in a very deserted and rocky area, known as "Witches Rocks", just west of Echo City, Utah. Four young Arrowmen, Niles, Aiden, Michael, and Kevin, entered the stage. They were on a backpacking trip looking for a geocache (a time capsule) that their former lodge adviser, Mr. Boranco, had told them about before his death. He had instructed them to go find it.

Aiden was distraught that he could never live up to his father's legacy. Aiden's father had been active Arrowman and community service leader who had died in an earthquake when Aiden was still young.

While searching, the boys ran into a local woman named "Iggy". During the icy interactions between Iggy and the boys, Iggy reveals that she knew both Mr. Boranco and Aiden's father. Once Aiden realizes that Iggy could help him more than hurt him, he was thrilled to learn about his father and his life. Iggy helps Aiden realize that he was already living up to his father's legacy by sending him out by himself for the night with only a candle.

In this night alone, Aiden searchs his inner self and realized that by living up to the standards of the Brotherhood of Cheerful Service, he would be living up to his father's legacy. Aiden realizes that Mr. Boranco was trying to tell him this, but he just didn't want to listen.

To close the show, Iggy helps Aiden to find the geocache. Inside, he finds a notebook with a message that his father had written many years before describing the wonderful connection between father and son. Aiden's father hoped that his actions would inspire Aiden to be a leader in unselfish service to others.

The show featured an impressive set, with dramatic lighting to hightlight the different moods of the production. Impressive special effects, including pyrotechinics, fog, and rotating rock pillars highlighted dramatic moments in the show.

After the show was over, everyone stood and sang the song of our Order. Hearing 6,500 people singing our magnificent song was an unforgetable moment.
